The most basic unit for land records management is the parcel. It reflects a unique geographic area that is characterized by common ownership and can be represented by a unique identifier, such as a tax ID.

The Parcels module provides all the tools necessary to track and describe individual parcels of land. It can track ownership, land use, zoning, infrastructure usage, structures or buildings, and geographic districts (i.e. Council Districts, flood plains, traffic zones, and neighborhood associations). The Parcels module even tracks multiple addresses common to a single parcel.

The Parcels module is often described as the "glue" module by Impact users. By querying the parcel database, for example using an address or owner's name, you will also locate all building permits, planning actions, and code enforcement violations for the parcel.
